Art Student Support

Tekee Media supports a young art student from East Timor, José de Jesus Amaral (”Tony”).
In May 2007 Tony was awarded scholarship to study at the National Art School of Australia (Sydney) to undertake a Bachelor of Fine Art. Tony was a senior artist in the Arte Moris art school in Dili, East Timor. As a student in Arte Moris he was involved in many art projects and exhibitions in East Timor and overseas. Tony has exhibited throughout East Timor. He won 2nd prize in a drawing competition relating to health and education organized by ´UNDP´ in Dili. He has exhibited internationally. In the ´CDUSU Art Auction´ exhibition in Darwin, Australia. In 2005 he participated in the photo exhibition `Etre. The Face of Human Rights´ in the Arte Moris exhibition hall. The exhibition was organised in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. He exhibited as part of the Arte Moris exhibition in 2006 at the UN Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland.´Living Art from Timor Lorosa´e´ exhibition and events honoring Timor-Leste´s culture in collaboration with ´AMZH´ (Arte Moris Zürich) at the ICS (Inter-Community School) in Zumikon/Zürich, Switzerland. IN 2006 his worked was exhibited in Exhibitions at the ´Willoughby Workshop Art Centre NSW´ and also COFA (College of Fine Art) NSW University. In March 2007 he exhibited with Arte Moris in Geelong, Victoria. Tony has just completed and passed 6 months of intensive English courses at Ultimo TAFE as a pre-requisite to his entry to National Art School.
Tony commences his Bachelor of Fine Art in February 2008.
